No ordinary Friday

For once I got out of the office this morning on a mission. I hasten to add it was a mission ordered by the Boss Man. The mission was to get as many tickets for U2 as possible. After trying on the phone for a little while and the internet a trip into town was in order. Thankfully the queue had gone down quite a bit and I managed to get 4. I did ask whether I could use a different credit card as well as the one I had just used and the lady just gave me a killer look as if I was insane. Is it just me or do other people get these kind of looks? I get them a lot some examples: When I'm jogging at 7am, when I ask outrageous questions about tickets, when I state that my dream holiday would be driving across land from Manchester to cape town SA etc. My motto "If you don't ask you don't get"

Now the debate is only who to give these tickets two. I wanted to but does it mean because I got them during work time do I have to make up the time or because the trip was ordered by my boss do I not have to? Dilemmas, dilemmas.

All in all it was fun to leave the confines of my office for a few hours and be out in the 'real' world. It was a bit to tempting to go shopping though.... a chai tea latte to go from Starbucks had to do to quench the shopping desire.

Surviving the cold

A couple of days have past and what have I achived this week...
After riding on Monday in the cold and realising quite how unfit I am I decided action was needed and the following morning jumped out of bed-quite literally- at 6.50am and went for a 25 minute jog round Moss Side. I felt ultra cool and loved people starring at me like I had completely lost my mind to be doing such a thing so early in the morning. It was freezing cold but well worth the effort.

Yesterday lunchtime my colleague Sophie and I had a girlie lunch as the boys decided that they would ditch our weekly team lunch. We ended up at the Musicana Cafe on oxford road. Very nice little cafe, if a tad dark and very male orientated. Interesting atmosphere and definitely a place I will have to brave on a Friday/Saturday night. Don't recommend their version of Salami, a bit heavy on the stomach :o)

I didn't brave Moss Side early in the morning today- I mean you have to give your body a rest don't you?! But still managed to get up before 7.30am. Complete miracle for me as I don't have to be at work until 9am and work is only a 5 min walk away from my house.

I'm enjoying having an early cappuchino with Jesus. At the moment I am reading John, a chapter a day. Today I read chapter 5 and there is this very interesting bit when Jesus tells the pharisees that they have been diligent in their study of the scriputers and given their life to it's study but have not given themselves to him who will give them eternal life. I have been pondering on that all morning. Are we guitly of placing scripture above Jesus in the West? The more I journey with Jesus the more I realise that I don't know him as well as I would like to and is that maybe partially due to reading the Bible as a story and a life manual rather than a book that points to Jesus. A book that should help us understand and move us closer to him. I've been listening to some teaching on the importance of the Word & Spirit in our lives. I really do think that in our western christian culture we have an inbalanced relationship, placing an over- emphasis on the Word and almost ignoring the Spirit of God. Yet it is the Spirit of God that is our helper in understanding the word and getting closer to Jesus. I love the Bible and theology, but can I honestly say the same of the Holy Spirit? If I'm honest God's power scares me a little. I do want that to change.

Just realised the time, 1 minute till the end of lunch. Better had sign off.

First Blog

Monday lunchtime and I have now had a couple of days to think about what I want to write and use this site for. Thanks to Richard Mc I have created this blog and it is in its early stages of development. I think really it is there to air my views, ideas and general thoughts about life, God and the Universe. Believe me there is a lot in my head that doesn't get public airing very often. :o)

I will update my profile and all that jazz when I get a chance and I'm not as hungry as I am today. What am I thinking of today? It's cold very cold and I have the joys of spending 2-3 hours in this cold with my lovely Kate. (just for those of you who do not know who Kate is - she is a 16.2 HH horse I share twice week- a rather grumpy old lady who hates the cold as much as I do) I'm sure she will give me that look of "you've got another thing coming if you think I'm leaving my stable tonight"

Anyways enough rambling for one day off to have a cup of soup to try and get rid of the cold feeling that is in my arms and fingers. My colleagues like the office cold.
